Canadian Ducks - Pastel 22" x 31" on Kitty Wallis Paper Sold
Classic Works To Grace TOSH Gallery - Published Thursday, June 30th, 2011 It will be, bar none, the most valuable selection of paintings ever to grace the storied walls of The Old School House Arts Centre in Qualicum Beach. And likey the most histroical, says Executive Director Corinne James. Does A.Y. Jackson ring a bell? He was a founding member of the Group of Seven who died in 1974. Joe Plaskett? The New Westminister-born artist studied with Jackson and , though living in London now in his 90's, is known for his years in Paris, where his studio became a meeting place for Canadian Artists. Veronica Milner? She was painting in the 1930's while living at what is now Milner Gardens. It's very exciting", said James, who has worked with artist Dan Gray to put the Invitational Show together. They're valuable, she said, in more ways than one: "This is the roots of Canadian Art that the viewer will be able to see" Pastel by Invite Opens July 18th to August 14 at the TOSH. The exhibition is a trubute not only to the artists but to the medium itself - Pastel is long-lasting and durable; "its pure color".
